Preparations for Boxing Day mega fight gain momentum

Preparations for the highly anticipated Boxing on Boxing Day showdown are gaining momentum ahead of December 26 at the Warehouse Masaki in Dar es Salaam, with boxers intensifying their training and promising fans a night of top-tier action.

Morogoro’s Ally Mazome has fired back at his opponent Osama Arabi of Mtwara, dismissing Arabi’s earlier remarks and insisting that “words don’t win fights.”

 Mazome confidently warned his rival to “expect a harsh lesson in the ring,” a statement that has further energized his supporters.

Mazome’s fans remain optimistic, predicting that Arabi will struggle to make it beyond the third round. They insist that the Morogoro team is heading to Dar es Salaam with one goal—victory.

In the day’s international bout, Tanzania’s Debora Mwenda has pledged to fly the national flag high when she faces Mariam Dick of Malawi.

Debora, who will be making her international debut, says she is well-prepared, mentally and physically, and is determined to secure a win for the country.

Her coach, Dickson Tembo, expressed confidence in her performance, noting that Debora has been undergoing rigorous, well-structured training. 

He urged Tanzanians to expect “a strong and convincing victory” from the young boxer.

Another thrilling encounter will see Mohamed Mkupate of Tabata Mtambani take on Nasri Zebro of Lindi. 

Mkupate has already issued a strong warning to Zebro, saying he has prepared “a quick finish,” and predicting the fight will not last all scheduled rounds.

The fight card also features several other exciting bouts, including headliner Hassan Mwakinyo, Hamadi Furahisha versus Malawi’s Hanock Phiri, Ramadhan Mkwakwate against Ragan Pancho from Gongo la Mboto, Hassan Ndonga versus Ismail Boyka, Ally Ngwando against Mussa Makuka, and Issa Simba of Kahama who will battle Wilson Phiri of Malawi.

With confidence high and tensions rising, boxing fans across the country are counting down to a day of thrilling matchups, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments at this year’s Boxing on Boxing Day event.
