The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) has honored Prof Kareem Manji for his decades-long dedication to academic and research excellence, particularly in child health.
For over 30 years, Prof Manji has been instrumental in the growth and success of MUHAS, mentoring generations of undergraduate and postgraduate students in pediatrics and child health. His guidance and support have shaped the careers of countless medical professionals.
Speaking at the 79th MUHAS Council meeting on Friday, MUHAS Council Chairman Dr Harrison Mwakyembe praised Prof Manji’s enduring influence. “Your impact extends across the university, the nation, and the international academic community, shaping the next generation of medical professionals,” he said.
Prof Manji has also contributed significantly to scientific knowledge, authoring 295 publications, including 30 papers in the 2024/25 academic year in internationally recognized journals such as BMC Pediatrics, Frontiers in Pediatrics, and The Lancet Global Health.
MUHAS Vice Chancellor Prof Appolinary Kamuhabwa noted that Prof Manji’s dedication and achievements have strengthened the university’s global reputation and highlighted the importance of research in improving child health outcomes worldwide.
