Tanzania and South Korea are stepping up efforts to strengthen economic cooperation, with a focus on unlocking new investment opportunities through the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA).
A delegation from South Korea’s Office for Civil Solutions (OCS) visited Tanzania this week to explore areas for potential investment and assess the country’s ongoing initiatives to improve the business environment.
The delegation was received by Mr. James Maziku, Director of Investor Services at TISEZA, who underscored the government’s commitment to attracting and facilitating both local and foreign investors.
“Our engagement with the Korean delegation is part of Tanzania’s broader agenda to promote industrial development and enhance investor confidence,” said Mr. Maziku.
“We are determined to provide an enabling environment supported by strong infrastructure and sound investment policies.”he added
During their visit, the delegation toured the Bagamoyo Special Economic Zone and the Benjamin Mkapa Special Economic Zone in Dar es Salaam two of Tanzania’s flagship investment hubs designed to attract industries and promote exports.
The visitors also toured the TUKU Textile Factory, located within the Benjamin Mkapa Special Economic Zone at Ubungo, which produces denim jeans for the U.S. market.
The factory stands as a testament to successful investment, employing hundreds of Tanzanians and contributing significantly to industrial growth and job creation.
The Korean delegation commended Tanzania’s progress in building investor confidence and modernizing its industrial infrastructure.
They expressed interest in exploring partnerships in manufacturing, logistics, and technology, emphasizing South Korea’s readiness to support Tanzania’s drive toward a more diversified and resilient economy.
Mr. Maziku said TISEZA would continue working closely with development partners and investors to ensure seamless facilitation and aftercare services.
“Tanzania’s strategic location, economic stability, and continued reforms make it one of Africa’s most promising investment destinations,” he added.
The visit is expected to pave the way for deeper cooperation between Tanzania and South Korea, strengthening trade relations, encouraging technology transfer, and supporting sustainable economic transformation.
