Arusha Regional Commissioner (RC) CPA Amos Gabriel Makalla has assured residents that peace and stability will prevail across the region during the upcoming General Election slated for October 29, 2025.
He emphasized that the government, in collaboration with security organs, has put in place all necessary measures to ensure a safe, calm, and transparent voting process.
Speaking during the Arusha Elders’ Peace Walk held in the city to pray for national unity and harmony in memory of the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Makalla urged citizens to exercise their constitutional right by turning out in large numbers to cast their votes.
“Voting is the right and responsibility of every Tanzanian. I call upon our elders to continue reminding the youth to safeguard peace, use social media wisely, and participate fully in the election.
I assure all voters that they will cast their ballots in a peaceful environment, and whoever wins will be rightfully declared the victor,” Makalla said.
The elders’ peace march began at the Arusha Regional Commissioner’s Office and passed through major landmarks including the Clock Tower, Metropole, Water Department, and Arusha Bus Terminal before concluding at the Arusha Museum Grounds.
Makalla noted that peace remains the foundation of national development, adding that the Arusha Region being the heart of Tanzania’s tourism industry depends heavily on stability to attract visitors and investments.
He further assured residents that security forces are fully prepared to maintain order before, during, and after the election.
Some of the elders who took part in the peace walk urged Arusha residents to uphold the region’s long-standing reputation for peace and hospitality.
They stressed that protecting harmony is key to sustaining progress and improving people’s livelihoods.
