The Tanzania Men’s National Softball Team is preparing to compete in the African qualifiers for the Softball World Cup, scheduled to take place in Kenya this November.
Deputy Parmanent Secretary of the Tanzania Baseball & Softball Association, Abubakari Nachiwa, told The Respondent Online that preparations for both the men’s and women’s teams are already underway.
The technical bench recently participated in an experience-sharing program in Japan earlier this month to strengthen coaching strategies and player development.
“The technical bench and players have already held planning sessions to ensure we are fully prepared for the competition,” Nachiwa said.
He explained that the team will begin a preparatory camp from October 22, while another joint training camp is scheduled to start on October 6 in Dar es Salaam or along the coastal region.
“Our aim is to compete strongly and secure a ticket to the World Cup. The team is confident in its abilities,” he added.
Nachiwa said the current squad consists of 25 players, from which a final 16 will be selected to represent Tanzania at the international tournament.
He urged sports stakeholders and sponsors to support the team by helping cover domestic preparations and travel expenses, emphasizing that their backing will be crucial for the team’s success on the continental stage.
