Tanzania’s Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango, has arrived in Nairobi to represent President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the national funeral of the late former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Omolo Odinga. The ceremony is set to take place today, October 17, 2025, at Nyayo Stadium.
Vice President Mpango is joined by former Tanzanian President Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Thabit Kombo.
Their presence reflects Tanzania’s respect for the late Kenyan leader and underscores the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
The funeral brings together regional leaders and dignitaries to honor Mr. Odinga’s lifelong contribution to Kenya’s political landscape and regional integration efforts in East Africa.
