The Tanzania People’s Defence Force (JWTZ) has assured citizens of robust security ahead of the General Election on October 29, 2025. The military said it is closely monitoring the national security landscape as the country approaches the polls.
In a statement on October 16, 2025, Colonel Bernad Masala Mlunga, Acting Director of Public Relations, commended the Police and other security agencies for maintaining law and order during the campaign period.
“Security has remained stable. Political parties are conducting campaigns within legal frameworks. Candidates are showing respect and tolerance. JWTZ urges all parties to maintain peace before, during, and after voting,” Colonel Mlunga said.
The military also praised citizens for exercising their right to participate in political activities peacefully.
Public engagement through party rallies and forums, the statement noted, has contributed to maintaining calm and order.
JWTZ warned against misinformation circulating on social media.
The military said false narratives linking it to political activities are being spread by some self-proclaimed activists, both locally and abroad.
Citizens are reminded that all official communications come directly from JWTZ headquarters.
By addressing misinformation early, JWTZ aims to maintain public confidence in the integrity and neutrality of security institutions.
As part of its mandate, JWTZ reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard peace and stability nationwide. The military stressed that it will ensure order before, during, and after the elections, reinforcing public trust in the security framework.
