The Government of Tanzania has moved to allay fears among citizens ahead of the October 29 General Election, promising a peaceful, secure, and well-organized voting process across the country.
Government Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa said preparations by security agencies are in full swing to ensure that every registered voter can cast their ballot freely and safely, without intimidation or disruption.
“The government is fully prepared. Our security forces are alert and ready to guarantee peace before, during, and after the election,” said Mr. Msigwa.
“Tanzanians should not be distracted by false messages circulating on social media. Go out confidently and vote for the leader of your choice.”he added
Mr. Msigwa underscored the government’s commitment to upholding the constitutional rights of citizens, noting that voting is both a right and a civic duty that strengthens the nation’s democracy.
“Every Tanzanian has the right to vote and be voted for. This election is your opportunity to shape the country’s future. Do not let misinformation discourage you from taking part,” he said.
He urged voters to stay informed by following campaign rallies and policy discussions of candidates vying for council, parliamentary, and presidential positions so they can make well-considered decisions at the ballot box.
“Your participation is vital. Listen to the candidates, evaluate their plans, and make your choice based on what you believe will move Tanzania forward,” he added.
With less than three weeks before election day, authorities continue to stress the importance of calm, unity, and civic responsibility. The government has pledged to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, ensuring that every vote counts in shaping the country’s democratic future.
