Young Africans SC (Yanga) stamped their authority on the CAF Champions League with a commanding 3-0 win over Angola’s Wiliete SC in the preliminary round at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.

Aziz Andabwile set the tone in the 31st minute, curling a thunderous shot from outside the 18-yard box past the Wiliete goalkeeper to give Yanga a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The second half belonged to Yanga’s relentless attacking force. Edmund John doubled the advantage in the 72nd minute, expertly converting a precise pass from Maxi Nzengeli.

Prince Dube capped the night with a clinical finish in the 82nd minute, slicing through the Wiliete defense to seal the 3-0 victory.

Despite a few missed opportunities, including several by Dube, Yanga never lost control of the game, showcasing tactical discipline and attacking flair.

The win positions Yanga strongly for the return leg on September 27, 2025, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, keeping fans dreaming of a deep run in Africa’s premier club competition.

On top of the thrilling victory, Yanga pocketed TZS 15 million through the ‘Mama Goal’ initiative, launched by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to motivate Tanzanian teams and clubs in international competitions.

President Samia’s continued support for sports has inspired players and clubs across the country, boosting competitiveness and morale on the continental stage.
