The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has launched a door-to-door tax education campaign in Kigamboni and Temeke districts, Dar es Salaam, aimed at raising awareness among traders, addressing their challenges, and reminding them to make their third installment payments on time.
The exercise, which began on Monday this week, was officially launched on September 9, 2025, by the Temeke Tax Region Manager, Mr. Masau Malima, who joined officers in providing tax education and engaging traders in Keko, Temeke District.
Speaking during the launch, Mr. Malima said the campaign is intended to educate business operators on various tax issues, listen to their concerns, collect feedback for improving TRA services, and remind them to settle their third installment payments before or by September 30, 2025.
“The purpose of this initiative is to directly meet with our clients, provide them with education, hear their challenges, and work on solutions,” he said.
He further urged traders to make timely payments of the third installment along with other tax obligations, while welcoming them to visit TRA offices for support and consultation whenever needed.
One of the traders in Keko, Mr. Bakari, commended the visit by the Regional Manager, saying it had motivated them to comply voluntarily. He stressed that paying taxes is crucial for national development, noting that developed nations rely heavily on taxpayers’ contributions.
“With this approach, even artisans and small traders will find it easier to pay taxes because the Manager has demonstrated that there is a friendly relationship between TRA and business operators,” he said.
Another trader, Ms. Bilina Johnson, cautioned her fellow business people to be vigilant when approached by individuals claiming to be TRA officers. She urged them to verify staff identification cards to avoid falling victim to fraudsters impersonating revenue officials.
