TRA empowers deaf entrepreneurs with tax education

By The Respondent Reporter

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has taken a bold step to promote inclusivity in business by providing tax education to deaf entrepreneurs organized under the MWAWAVITE group.

The training focused on the importance of registering businesses, understanding tax obligations, and operating within the formal economy.

Speaking at the opening of the session at TRA Temeke offices, Mr. Masau Malima, TRA Manager for Temeke Tax Region, emphasized the authority’s commitment to supporting all entrepreneurs, including those with disabilities.

He said TRA aims to create a business environment that empowers entrepreneurs to grow their ventures while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

On behalf of the participants, Ms. Flora Gohaji, through sign language interpreter Mr. Hamis Mkana, expressed gratitude to TRA Temeke for the training.

She highlighted that the knowledge gained would help participants strengthen their businesses, meet legal tax requirements, and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

The initiative reflects TRA’s broader mission to encourage inclusivity, empower entrepreneurs with disabilities, and expand the country’s tax base while fostering sustainable business growth.
