The Attorney General, Hamza S. Johari, today led the Government Legal Team in a strategic session to review the delivery of legal services, prosecution processes, and issuance of legal decisions.
The ninth meeting of the team took place on September 19, 2025, in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the opening, Hon. Johari said the session focused on analyzing the legal framework and operations to ensure they serve the broader national interest.
He stressed the need to modernize legal responsibilities to support the implementation of Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2050.
The vision emphasizes unity, human dignity, human rights, democracy, environmental protection, and the preservation of culture and national ethics.
“To achieve the goals of Vision 2050, laws must be enacted and amended to drive Tanzania toward becoming a high-level upper-middle-income economy,” Johari said.
He encouraged participants to share ideas and recommendations to strengthen the legal sector’s role in national development and ensure it actively contributes to realizing Vision 2050.
The Government Legal Team includes the Ministry of Constitution and Legal Affairs and key legal institutions such as the Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Attorney General Zanzibar, Chief Parliamentary Counsel, Solicitor General, Director of Public Prosecutions, Law Reform Commission, the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA), the Judiciary, and the Tanganyika Public Bar Association (TPBA).
