TLP vows peaceful, policy-driven campaign ahead of 2025 elections

The Tanzania Labour Party (TLP) has promised a peaceful and orderly campaign ahead of the 2025 General Election, focusing on policies and dialogue rather than violence.

Presidential candidate Yustas Rwamugira made the announcement on August 29, 2025, while meeting party members and supporters at the TLP headquarters in Magomeni, Dar es Salaam.

The event marked his return from Dodoma, where he was officially nominated to represent the party.

Rwamugira said TLP plans to tour the country, engaging citizens and explaining its policies.

He said the party aims not just to participate in the elections, but to take the lead in governing the nation.

He highlighted TLP’s priorities, including boosting the economy for low-income citizens, tackling unemployment, improving education and healthcare, and protecting national resources for current and future generations.

The party’s running mate pledged to promote gender equality and protect women’s rights.

She said TLP recognizes the vital role of women in national development and will prioritize their participation in political, economic, and social leadership.

Both leaders urged supporters to avoid provocative language or actions during the campaign.

They called for respectful debate and civic-minded politics to set an example of unity and clean elections.

The official campaign period began on August 28, 2025, and will end on October 28, one day before the elections on October 29.
