Taifa Stars set for Niger clash in World Cup qualifiers

The Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, will tomorrow battle Niger in their second 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.

Tanzania enter the match with one point after a 1-1 draw against Congo Brazzaville in their opening fixture. Niger, on the other hand, will be looking to recover from a 5-0 defeat to Morocco.

Head coach Hemedi Suleiman “Morocco” expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness, saying the players have corrected mistakes from their previous outing.

“Our performance against Congo Brazzaville was below expectations, but we have made improvements. The team has grown stronger, though there are still a few areas to address. We are determined to approach tomorrow’s game with focus and discipline to get a positive result,” he said.

Team captain Simon Msuva assured fans that the players are motivated and eager to deliver victory on home soil.

“We are ready and highly spirited. Our request is for Tanzanians to come out in big numbers and support us from the stands. Their energy and encouragement will push us to fight harder for three points,” Msuva said.

Tomorrow’s game is crucial for Taifa Stars as they seek to build momentum in Group E and keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in history.
