Stakeholders urged to strengthen support for nutrition efforts in Tanzania

The Executive Director of the Food and Nutrition Institute, Dr. Germana Leyna, has called on stakeholders to intensify support for initiatives aimed at tackling nutrition challenges in Tanzania, highlighting the country’s progress through well-coordinated strategies.

Dr. Leyna made the appeal today, September 29, during a special interview on Jambo Tanzania, a program aired by the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), ahead of the 11th General Meeting of Nutrition Stakeholders.

“The government continues to implement multiple strategies, including public awareness campaigns, to ensure communities understand nutrition issues. Building a nation of well-nourished citizens requires a united effort, and I urge all stakeholders to join hands in addressing the persistent nutrition challenges,” Dr. Leyna said.

She added that the government is committed to reaching out to farmers, ensuring they not only focus on production but also understand the importance of retaining part of their harvest for household consumption.

This approach, she said, is vital for improving community nutrition across the country.

Dr. Leyna also urged stakeholders to remain actively engaged and continue playing a catalytic role in strengthening nutrition initiatives nationwide.
