The Regional Commissioner of Mbeya, Beno Malisa, officially opened the Southern International Trade Fair & Festival today, September 14, 2025, in Matema Ward, Kyela District, calling on participants to uphold high standards of environmental hygiene throughout the event.
Speaking at the inauguration, RC Malisa urged all business operators to ensure cleanliness across the exhibition grounds, emphasizing that every activity should, directly or indirectly, contribute to environmental conservation.
He also encouraged organizers to enhance public education by conducting structured seminars and meetings instead of relying solely on individual exhibition stalls.
“Educational programs should reach everyone in an organized manner. Dedicated spaces for learning will allow citizens to gain maximum knowledge,” he said.
Highlighting the district’s economic potential, RC Malisa said the trade fair should serve as a platform to promote Kyela, especially through its renowned cocoa production.
He directed the Kyela District Council’s Executive Director to set up a special area at the exhibition to provide detailed information on cocoa cultivation, processing, and value addition.
The Southern International Trade Fair & Festival brings together local and international traders, creating opportunities for trade expansion, knowledge sharing, and showcasing the southern region’s economic potential.
It is expected to boost business links, attract investment, and raise public awareness on key sectors like agriculture, trade, and education.
