Mbeya residents gain access to specialist healthcare in five-day medical camp

By Samwel Ndoni, Mbeya

For the first time, residents of Mbeya District will have direct access to top-level medical care as a team of specialist doctors sets up a five-day medical camp at Mbeya District Hospital (Inyala).

The initiative, running from September 15 to 19, is designed to make expert healthcare services more accessible and affordable to the local community.

Acting Medical Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Bwire Mbango, explained that many citizens previously had to travel long distances and incur high costs to receive specialized treatment.

“The government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan recognizes this challenge. By bringing these services closer, we aim to reduce both financial and logistical barriers for our patients,” he said.

The camp will provide a range of services, including women’s health, pediatrics, surgery, anesthesia, internal medicine, and dental care. Experienced nurses will also assist to ensure comprehensive and quality care.

Dr. Mbango emphasized that the specialists will collaborate with the hospital’s staff, allowing patients to benefit from both expertise and continuity of care.

“This is an important opportunity for the community to access advanced medical services locally. We urge everyone in need to take advantage of it,” he added.

Residents are encouraged to visit the hospital during the five-day camp for consultations, treatments, and follow-up care, marking a significant step in improving healthcare accessibility in Mbeya.
