The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, has said Makuyuni Wildlife Park is a new strategic conservation site designed to give tourists a closer and more convenient experience of Tanzania’s wildlife.

Speaking on September 28 during his official visit to the park in Monduli District, Arusha Region, Dr. Abbasi noted that Makuyuni’s accessibility and unique setting make it ideal for developing diverse tourism products that can enrich the visitor experience.

“This park offers a rare opportunity for tourists to see wildlife within a short time and in close proximity. Its uniqueness calls for continued innovation in tourism services so that visitors can engage in a wide range of activities,” he said.

TAWA’s Acting Conservation Commissioner, Mlage Yussuf Kabange, said significant infrastructure improvements have been made to ensure year-round access to the park.

These include the construction of a water reservoir for wildlife, new road networks and crossings.

“We are also stepping up efforts to promote tourism and attract investors to develop facilities within Makuyuni and other sites under TAWA’s management,” Kabange said.

According to Conservator Ruahamangi Kishe, Makuyuni Wildlife Park hosts elephants, lions, giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, buffaloes and antelopes.

The park is also surrounded by Maasai communities, offering cultural tourism opportunities alongside wildlife attractions.

Situated about 40 kilometres from Arusha City, Makuyuni Wildlife Park is expected to become a key destination for both domestic and international tourists, contributing to Tanzania’s broader tourism and conservation goals.
