Leaders and players of Lugalo Golf Club have departed for Arusha to participate in the Vodacom Tanzania Open, which will take place from October 2 to 5 at the Kill Golf Course in the region.
The team comes from Morogoro, where they competed in the Lina PG Tour held from September 23 to 29.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, the club manager, Colonel David Mziray, said the team will spend several days in a training camp ahead of the tournament to acclimatize to the weather conditions and prepare for top performance.
Colonel Mziray explained that participation in the Lina Tour was an important part of their preparation, giving the team the opportunity to sharpen techniques, build resilience, and reinforce sportsmanship.
He added that they carry the discipline, motivation, and encouragement from the Chief of Defence Forces, and aim to perform well while continuing to represent the military proudly in sports.
He emphasized that players are ready to compete with full strength, demonstrating skill, discipline, and patriotism to uphold the honor of the military, in line with the Chief of Defence Forces, General Jacob John Mkunda’s philosophy that sports is work.
The winners of the Lina Tour were announced, with Fadhili Nkya taking first place in Professional Golf and Angel Eaton finishing eighth.
In Elite A, Isiaka Dunia won first place, followed by Enoshi Wanyeche in second, Hawa Wanyeche in third, Prosper Emanuel in fourth, and Jumanne James in fifth.
The Net winner was Sajn. Nicholaus Chitanda, awarded by Brigadier General (Retired) Michael Luwongo. The Silver Ladies Section runner-up was Private Joyce Warega.
The Longest Drive title went to Koplo Amina Khamis for the ladies and Major General Wilbert Ibuge for the men.
