Simba SC coach Hemed Suleiman Morocco has admitted that his team still faces challenges in converting the chances they create on the field.
The team secured progression to the group stage of the CAF Champions League after drawing 1-1 in the second leg of the preliminary round, played the day before yesterday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Simba had previously gained an advantage with a 1-0 away win and a 2-1 victory against Garobone United, paving the way for their advancement to the next stage.
Speaking after the match, Morocco acknowledged that there is still work to be done. “The match was tough. The players fought hard and managed a draw, but our main objective was to qualify for the next stage, which we have achieved,” he said.
Morocco emphasized the need for the team to return to training to improve their finishing. “We must focus on converting the chances we create into goals. That is an area where we still need to improve,” he added.
He also praised his players’ discipline and determination. “I want to commend the players for staying focused during the match and helping the team advance to the next round,” Morocco said.
Simba player Morice Abraham described the game as competitive, noting that although they did not secure all three points, progressing was a relief.
“We thank God for helping us move to the next stage with a 1-1 draw,” he said.
Teammate Antony Mligo highlighted the challenge posed by their opponents. “It was a tough match because the opposition came well-prepared, aiming for a positive result.
As players, we followed the instructions from the technical bench and managed to qualify for the next round with a 1-1 draw,” Mligo said.
On the other side, Garobone coach Dimitar Rukoaev Panter said his team tried to play without fear and control the game, but luck was not on their side.
“The lack of experience in such competitions affected our performance,” he added.
