The government has reiterated its determination to deliver on Tanzania’s commitments made during the 2021 Generation Equality Forum, with a strong focus on advancing women’s economic rights and equality.

Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Felista Mdemu, said the government is committed to working closely with partners to ensure the program achieves tangible results.

She made the remarks on September 10 while opening a review meeting on the Generation Equality Program at Edema Hotel in Morogoro.

She explained that the government, in collaboration with development partners such as UN Women and LANDESA, will continue to strengthen coordination to address challenges facing women, youth, and other vulnerable groups.

Mdemu urged coordinators from ministries and public institutions to provide accurate and timely reports on program implementation, including indicators, photographs, and publications, to support the preparation of the country’s five-year report.

Mdemu stressed that gender equality cannot be achieved by government efforts alone. She said collective action remains essential in realizing national commitments and building a fairer generation.

She also expressed confidence that the review meeting would generate concrete insights to enhance program delivery in the coming years.

Assistant Director of Gender Development in the ministry, Juliana Kibonde, said the meeting aimed to review progress reports from ministries and institutions, examine challenges and successes, and develop strategies for strengthening the program going forward.

She emphasized that regular evaluations are key to ensuring Tanzania remains a leader in promoting gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

Assistant Director of Social Welfare in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Mwanaamani Mtowo, noted that his office has been collaborating with the ministry to promote a safe and decent working environment for public servants.

He added that these efforts will be reinforced to ensure fairness and equal opportunities in the public service, in line with the objectives of the Generation Equality Program.
