Bukombe Constituency parliamentary candidate for the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Dr. Doto Mashaka Biteko, has urged citizens to view the upcoming October 29 general election as an investment in their lives, stressing that voting empowers communities to demand development from elected leaders.
Addressing a campaign rally in Lyambamgongo Ward, Geita Region, on September 19, Dr. Biteko said meaningful change in communities begins with active citizen participation at the ballot box.
“Elections are a life investment. Voting and electing leaders gives you the legitimacy to demand development from those you put in office. I always wonder how someone who neither votes nor attends community development meetings becomes the first to complain,” he told supporters.
He called on the ward’s 4,600 registered voters to turn out on election day, pledging that CCM would focus on improving social services and infrastructure.
His campaign promises included the provision of an ambulance and extending electricity to seven sub-villages not yet connected to the national grid.
Dr. Biteko further pointed to achievements realized under President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration, citing new opportunities in Bukombe, such as government approval for residents to mine in the Kigosi Game Reserve.
He reminded constituents that the area previously lacked a bus terminal, a modern market, and district council offices, but that funds had now been allocated for their construction.
“We must acknowledge the progress made and ensure continuity by voting for CCM,” he said, while also urging citizens to avoid divisions during the election period.
At the same rally, CCM’s candidate for Lyambamgongo Ward councilor, Boniface Shitobero, praised President Samia’s administration for allocating funds to build and equip classrooms, construct two health dispensaries, and improve local roads.
“There is a satellite school that has received funds for building classrooms, and every village now has electricity,” Shitobero said, adding that a renewed CCM mandate would allow for further investments in schools and hospitals.
