The TZS 19.9 billion invested in Tabora through the Tanzania Cities Infrastructure Development Project (TACTIC) is transforming the region’s economy and social landscape, says the Director of Tabora Municipal Council, Dr. John Pima.

Under the project, key infrastructure developments include new bus terminals, a modern market, and 10.7 kilometers of roads, with road construction already 83.8% complete.

“Previously, market and terminal facilities were not user-friendly for traders or travelers. Today, we are creating better environments to attract investors to Tabora,” Dr. Pima said.

He added that the completion of these projects will bring multiple benefits, not only improving the town’s appearance but also creating favorable conditions for businesses.

“I invite stakeholders and investors to explore opportunities in Tabora,” he said.

Engineer Lusako Kilembe, regional manager of the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA), said the agency is committed to timely road maintenance to ensure infrastructure longevity.

“We will allocate funds in our budget to maintain roads on schedule, ensuring public service continuity as the government invests heavily in construction,” he explained.

Local traders have welcomed the developments. Ms. Mariam Aron said the new market facilities, including modern toilets, will provide clean and safe conditions for business, attract more customers, and boost the local economy.

Resident and trader Mr. Maiko Kipeta urged the government to complete the market project on time so businesses can begin benefiting promptly.

Implemented by TARURA in collaboration with the Municipal Director’s Office, the TACTIC project is expected to accelerate development in Tabora and attract further investment to the region.
