Korean Parliamentarians visit Dar es Salaam to strengthen cooperation

On August 12, 2025, the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila, officially welcomed a delegation from the National Assembly of Korea at his office in Dar es Salaam.

The distinguished Korean lawmakers  Lee Jae Jung, Kim Hyung Dong, Boo Seung Chan, and  Lee Bang Woo engaged in fruitful discussions with the Regional Commissioner, focusing on ongoing partnerships and future opportunities between Tanzania and Korea.

Hon. Chalamila emphasized Dar es Salaam’s role as host to several major development projects funded through the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). 

He highlighted key initiatives such as the construction of Mloganzila Hospital, financed by a concessional loan from Korea’s Exim Bank, the Tanzanite Bridge project, and the National Identification Data Protection Center.

The Regional Commissioner further acknowledged Korea’s contributions to sectors including infrastructure, port transport, environmental management, waste management, and capacity building. Korean firms have been instrumental in advancing the Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP), the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, and the construction of significant bridges, all of which are vital for the region’s growth.

Mr. Abdul Mhite, Dar es Salaam’s Regional Administrative Secretary, welcomed the Korean delegation on behalf of the government and citizens, emphasizing the many development opportunities available in the region. 

He urged both sides to sustain and deepen cooperation for the broad benefit of Tanzanian and Korean people alike.

 Chalamila praised the Korean delegation for their professionalism, investment, and sincere partnership. He encouraged ongoing collaboration aimed at building a future marked by innovation, inclusivity, and mutual prosperity for Tanzania and Korea.
