At least 37 volleyball coaches from Tanzania and other African countries are expected to benefit from a high-level international training program FIVB Coaches Level One Course scheduled to take place from July 8 to 12, 2025, in Dar es Salaam.

The course, which is designed to enhance technical and tactical coaching skills, is jointly organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) in collaboration with the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF).

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Zakaria Bizimana, the TVF Technical Director, confirmed that out of the total participants, 21 are Tanzanians, while 16 are from neighboring countries.

“We have confirmed coaches from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, all of whom have successfully completed the National Level Two coaching course, a key requirement for this international training,” said Bizimana.

He emphasized that preparations are complete and the course is expected to kick off smoothly on Monday. The opening ceremony will be officiated by TVF Secretary-General, Mr. Laurence Safari, who will serve as the guest of honor.

The intensive five-day course will be facilitated by Mr. Constant Thouassi, an internationally certified FIVB instructor from Cameroon, known for his experience in developing coaching talent across Africa.

According to organizers, the course aims to strengthen coaching capacity, improve the quality of volleyball in the region, and prepare participants for advanced roles in national and international competitions.

“This training is a great step toward empowering our local and regional coaches with modern knowledge and practical skills aligned with global standards,” Bizimana added.

The FIVB Level One Course is one of the key pillars in FIVB’s broader effort to build a strong foundation for the sport by investing in professional development, particularly in emerging volleyball nations.
