The Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA) has issued a public notice informing residents of Dar es Salaam and Coast Region to brace for an eight-hour water supply interruption scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The disruption, DAWASA says, will occur between 9:00am and 5:00pm, and is a result of planned preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure by the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).

The exercise will affect the operations of the Ruvu Chini (Bagamoyo) and Ruvu Juu (Mlandizi) water production plants, which serve a significant portion of the two regions.

“This temporary shutdown is necessary to allow for critical electrical infrastructure maintenance. As a result, water supply from both Ruvu Chini and Ruvu Juu plants will be halted during the maintenance window,” the authority said in a statement released on June 29.
