Tabora United sets sights on Yanga clash

After bowing out of the CRDB Federation Cup, Tabora United has turned its full attention to their upcoming NBC Tanzania Premier League showdown against Yanga, scheduled for April 1 at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.

Tabora United suffered a 5-3 defeat in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in the Round of 16, ending their cup journey earlier than expected.

However, the team can draw confidence from their previous league encounter, where they stunned Yanga with a 3-1 victory in the first round of the season.

Speaking on the team’s preparations, Tabora United’s Head of Media and Communications, Christina Mwagala, acknowledged the disappointment of their recent exit but emphasized that the team is now focused on bouncing back.

"This is a challenge for us, but we are returning to the pitch determined to prepare for the big game against Yanga," she said.

She assured fans that the coaching staff has identified the team’s weaknesses and is working to address them.

"The coach and the technical bench have analyzed the mistakes that cost us in the last match. They are making the necessary adjustments to ensure we deliver a better performance against Yanga," Mwagala added.

She also extended an apology to the club’s supporters for the early elimination.

"We are disappointed because our goal was to progress further. Last year, we reached the quarterfinals, but this time, we fell short. Now, all our energy will be directed toward the league," she said.

Tabora United goalkeeper Haroun Mandanda echoed the sentiment, stressing that the team remains motivated despite the setback.

"The end of one match marks the beginning of preparation for the next. We fought hard, but the coach has identified areas that need improvement, and we will work on them ahead of our next challenge," Mandanda said.
