Residents of Mara Region have expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the Rural Energy Agency (REA) projects, which aim to provide affordable electricity.
They have commended the government for delivering these crucial projects that contribute to the country’s economic growth.
Their appreciation was conveyed to REA experts who visited Kwangwa Ward in Musoma District to educate residents on how to benefit from ongoing electrification projects.
Speaking during the session, Kwangwa Ward Executive Officer, Bwiso Kinanda, lauded the government for making electricity more affordable.
“We are grateful for the reduction in electricity connection costs, which has made it easier for more households to access power. I urge residents to take full advantage of this opportunity,” he said.
REA’s Community Development Officer, Abdulrazack Mkomij, highlighted key aspects of the initiative, including connection costs, efficient energy use, safety measures, and infrastructure maintenance.
“Our goal is not only to connect homes to electricity but also to ensure that people understand how to use energy efficiently and safely,” he explained.
REA Project Engineer for Mara Region, Omary Gwillah, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to electrification efforts in the region.
“We are continuing to implement various electricity projects to improve the lives of residents and boost economic activities,” he stated.
Kwangwa B Suburb Chairman, Maxmilian Kunju, speaking on behalf of the residents, called for the expansion of electricity services to more areas.
“We appreciate what REA has done so far, but we request the agency to extend electricity to other parts of Musoma so that more people can benefit,” he urged.
The residents also expressed their gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for allocating funds to support REA projects in the region, recognizing the impact of rural electrification on their daily lives and economic prospects.
