Twelve people with disabilities in Ilemi Ward have received wheelchairs from Tulia Trust as the organisation begins activities to mark its 10th anniversary.
The donation, made under the leadership of Tulia Trust Director Dr Tulia Ackson, is intended to help beneficiaries overcome mobility challenges and improve their ability to participate in daily activities.
Dr Ackson is also President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Member of Parliament for Uyole Constituency.
The wheelchair donation comes ahead of celebrations marking a decade since Tulia Trust was established in 2016.
The 10th anniversary celebrations will be held from September 24 to 26, 2026, during the Tulia Traditional Dances Festival at Gombe Primary School grounds in Uyole Constituency.
The celebrations are expected to bring together community members and other stakeholders for activities centred on the anniversary and the organisation's community initiatives.
For the wheelchair recipients, the support addresses one of the practical challenges faced by people with disabilities, particularly access to mobility equipment needed for movement and participation in community life.
Tulia Trust has used its anniversary activities to highlight initiatives undertaken since its establishment in 2016, with the latest donation extending its support to people with disabilities in Ilemi Ward.
