Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office–Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof Riziki Shemdoe, has conveyed his condolences following the death of Mama Fatuma Karume, wife of Zanzibar’s first President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, the late Abeid Amani Karume.
Mama Fatuma died in Zanzibar on September 21, 2026.
In his condolence message, Prof Shemdoe joined President Samia Suluhu Hassan in extending sympathies to Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, former Zanzibar President Dr Amani Abeid Karume, the bereaved family, relatives and the people of Zanzibar and Tanzania.
Prof Shemdoe said he shared the grief of the family and the nation during the difficult period, while wishing the bereaved strength, patience and comfort as they mourned their loss.
He also prayed for the late Mama Fatuma Karume to rest in eternal peace.
