President Samia Suluhu Hassan is travelling to Zambia on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Hakainde Hichilema following his re-election for another five-year term.
President Samia’s visit underscores the longstanding political, economic and social ties between Tanzania and Zambia, two neighbouring countries whose relations have historically been anchored in solidarity, regional cooperation and shared interests.
Mr Hichilema was re-elected in Zambia’s August 13, 2026 General Election, securing another five-year mandate to lead the country.

The relationship between the two countries has deep historical roots, including cooperation in major infrastructure projects and liberation struggles in Southern Africa.
