President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed new leaders to several key public institutions, including the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA) and the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat.
The appointments, announced by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, affect institutions with significant roles in public-sector recruitment, education, labour relations, water financing, digital development and land-use planning.
Hamis Abdallah Mkunga has been appointed Secretary of the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat, replacing Mick Kiliba, whose term has ended.
Prof Alfred Said Sife has been appointed Chairman of NECTA, taking over from Prof William Anangisye, who has completed his tenure.
Retired Judge Wilfred Peter Dyansobera has been appointed Chairman of the CMA, succeeding Edriss Mavura, whose term has also ended.
President Samia has also reappointed Engineer Abdallah Mohamed Mkufunzi as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Water Fund for a second term.
Dr Henry Bethuel Mwanyika has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the Tanzania Information and Communication Technology Commission, replacing Prof Leonard Mselle, whose term has ended.
Prof John Modestus Lupala has meanwhile been appointed Chairman of the National Land Use Planning Commission.
The appointments come at a time when public institutions are expected to strengthen efficiency, accountability and delivery of services in line with the Government's wider development agenda.
The changes also signal a transition in leadership at several strategic institutions following the completion of the terms of their previous office holders.
The new appointees will be responsible for providing strategic oversight in areas that have a direct bearing on citizens, including access to public employment, the credibility of national examinations, resolution of labour disputes, water-sector financing, digital transformation and sustainable land-use planning.
The appointments take effect as the Government continues to align leadership across public institutions with its broader priorities on institutional performance and improved public service delivery.
