The Tanzania Rugby Union (TRU) has called on coaches across the country to register for the World Rugby Level 1 – Sevens coaching course as part of efforts to strengthen technical capacity and accelerate the development of rugby in Tanzania.
The course is scheduled for August 27 at the University of Dar es Salaam and will provide coaches with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and practical skills in coaching Sevens rugby.
TRU Secretary-General Antony Dawa said the programme was important in building a stronger pool of qualified coaches who can contribute to the growth of the sport at different levels.
He urged interested coaches to register early and complete all mandatory online courses through the World Rugby Passport platform before attending the face-to-face training.
“Coaches who wish to participate should register early and ensure they complete the required courses through World Rugby Passport online before attending the face-to-face session,” Dawa said.
According to Dawa, the training will also expose participants to international coaching standards and practices, with lessons from professionals involved in rugby development across Africa.
The course will be facilitated by Robert Bwali, Development Manager at Rugby Africa and a World Rugby Coach Educator, who is expected to return to Tanzania for the educational programme.
TRU said strengthening coaching capacity remains critical to improving the quality of rugby at grassroots and competitive levels, particularly as the country seeks to expand participation and develop players capable of competing at regional and international levels.
The union has therefore encouraged eligible coaches to take advantage of the programme and complete the necessary registration and World Rugby Passport requirements ahead of the August 27 training.
