Tanzania is positioning its mining sector for a fresh wave of investment, with more than 2,000 delegates and representatives from over 50 international companies expected to attend the Tanzania Mining and Investment Conference (TMIC 2026) in November.
The seventh edition of the conference will be held from November 19 to 21, 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam.
The event is expected to bring together government officials, mining investors, financial institutions, technology companies, researchers and other players across the mineral value chain, providing a platform for investment discussions and business partnerships.
The conference comes as the government seeks to shift the mining sector further towards value addition, with greater emphasis on processing, refining and manufacturing products from minerals within Tanzania.
According to the organisers, TMIC 2026 will showcase investment opportunities in modern mining technologies, mineral processing, refining and the establishment of industries that use locally available mineral resources.
The government has increasingly stressed that Tanzania should derive greater economic benefits from its mineral wealth by expanding local processing and strengthening linkages between mining and other sectors of the economy.
Speaking at the launch of the conference, Minister for Minerals Anthony Mavunde said the government would continue creating a conducive environment for investors while ensuring that mineral development translates into wider economic benefits for Tanzanians.
“The future of the mining sector is increasingly linked to value addition, industrial development and ensuring that citizens benefit more from the resources found in the country,” he said.
The conference is also expected to address issues including job creation, technology transfer, increased participation of Tanzanian businesses in the mining value chain and the sector's contribution to government revenues.
For investors, the conference provides an opportunity to engage directly with government officials and industry stakeholders on available opportunities, regulations and potential partnerships.
For Tanzanian businesses, particularly those involved in supplying goods and services to mines, the event could provide opportunities to connect with international companies and expand their participation in the mining supply chain.
The conference will also feature a Mining Night, where awards will be presented to stakeholders recognised for their contribution to Tanzania's mining value chain.
Other activities will include exhibitions showcasing different uses of minerals, including fashion and beauty designs incorporating mineral-based products.
TMIC 2026 will be held under the theme: “Value-Added Minerals: A Catalyst for Industrial and Economic Development.”
