Simba, Pamba Jiji brace for tough battle for points

Simba SC head coach has challenged his players to maintain their winning momentum when they face Pamba Jiji tomorrow, warning that the NBC Premier League encounter will require maximum concentration and commitment.

Simba will be looking to secure a second consecutive victory after opening their campaign with a win, but the coach expects a stern test against Pamba Jiji, particularly with the match being played on the latter’s home turf.

The coach said Simba’s preparations had been progressing well since the team returned to camp, with adequate training time helping the players sharpen their tactical approach ahead of the encounter.

“We want to continue with a second consecutive victory after our first win, but it will not be easy. We have to execute our game plan 100 per cent and everyone must give their best,” he said.

He described Pamba Jiji as a quality side that can be difficult to overcome at home, stressing that Simba cannot afford to underestimate their opponents.

The coach said the team had also drawn lessons from last season’s meeting with Pamba Jiji, which he described as one of the most demanding matches they played.

That experience, he added, had helped Simba understand the kind of challenge they are likely to face and the level of discipline required to get a positive result.

On the other side, Pamba Jiji assistant coach John Waw said his team had prepared for Simba with the same seriousness applied to every league opponent, rather than making special preparations to target the Dar es Salaam giants.

Waw acknowledged that the quality of the opposition could influence their tactical approach but said his players were ready for the challenge.

He also revealed that several players who missed the previous match because of licensing issues would be available for tomorrow’s fixture, providing the team with additional options.

Pamba Jiji midfielder Amos Kadikilo said the players were aware of Simba’s experience and individual quality but remained confident in their own preparations.

“We know Simba’s quality and experience, but we have prepared well physically and mentally. We are ready to compete,” Kadikilo said.

He said Pamba Jiji would not treat the fixture as fundamentally different from other league matches, insisting that their focus would be on executing their plans and competing for points.

With both teams eager to strengthen their positions early in the campaign, tomorrow’s encounter promises to be a demanding contest in which tactical discipline, concentration and the ability to take chances could prove decisive.
