The Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone has assured football fans of enhanced security as Simba and Young Africans (Yanga) prepare to hold their annual fan days at Uhuru Stadium this weekend.

The two events are scheduled for August 8 and 9, 2026, with each club organising its own celebration at the Temeke-based stadium.

In a statement, the police said they were aware that the events were likely to attract large crowds and assured fans that security measures had been put in place to ensure both celebrations take place in a safe and orderly environment.

The force said it would discharge its responsibilities to maintain security throughout the events on each day, while calling on fans to cooperate with security officers.

“Simba and Yanga Day” have become major events on Tanzania’s football calendar, providing clubs with an opportunity to engage supporters and unveil plans and activities ahead of the new football season.

The Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone also wished both clubs successful preparations and said it hoped the celebrations would provide fans with an enjoyable experience.

The two clubs are among Tanzania’s most supported football sides, with their rivalry drawing large crowds whenever they meet or organise major events.
