JKT Tanzania, TRA United coaches demand more despite opening draw

JKT Tanzania and TRA United coaches have praised their players’ performances but acknowledged there is room for improvement after the sides settled for a 1-1 draw in their opening NBC Premier League fixture.

The match, played at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam, saw both teams share the points as they began their campaigns with a competitive encounter.

JKT Tanzania head coach Ahmad Ally said the result reflected the quality of the opposition, noting that his players showed determination despite facing a difficult challenge.

Ally said he was encouraged by the team’s performance but stressed that the technical bench must continue working on the squad to improve its overall strength and consistency.

“Although I am satisfied with my players’ performance today, I still have work to do with my colleagues to ensure the team becomes better and performs beyond what we have shown in the coming matches,” Ally said.

He said the team would use the lessons from the opening fixture to address weaknesses and build a stronger side as the season progresses.

TRA United head coach Ettienne Ndayiragije similarly expressed satisfaction with his players but identified physical fitness and team coordination as areas requiring immediate attention.

Ndayiragije said improving the players’ fitness would be important in developing better understanding on the pitch, particularly as the team seeks greater consistency in upcoming fixtures.

“I congratulate the players for a good performance, but I will return to the training ground to correct the challenges that emerged in this match ahead of our next games,” Ndayiragije said.

The 1-1 result leaves both teams with a point from their opening fixture, setting the stage for further tests as they look to build momentum in the league.
