Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), has commended outgoing French Ambassador Anne-Sophie Avé for her contribution to strengthening relations between Tanzania and France during her tenure.
Ambassador Kombo made the remarks yesterday in Dar es Salaam during a farewell meeting with the French envoy, who is concluding her diplomatic assignment in Tanzania.
The minister said Ambassador Avé played a significant role in promoting cooperation between the two countries, particularly through initiatives that supported cultural exchange, arts and sports development.
“Ambassador Avé has contributed to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and France. Her efforts in promoting cultural and creative programmes have helped deepen people-to-people relations between the two nations,” Ambassador Kombo said.
During her time in Tanzania, Ambassador Avé supported various initiatives aimed at promoting creativity and cultural engagement, including the Khanga Design Competition and sports photography competitions.
The initiatives formed part of broader efforts to use culture, arts and sports as platforms for strengthening international cooperation and showcasing Tanzania’s creative potential.
Speaking during the meeting, Ambassador Avé thanked the Tanzanian government for the cooperation and support she received throughout her assignment, saying it enabled her to effectively execute her diplomatic responsibilities.
She also commended Ambassador Kombo for his role in advancing Tanzania’s diplomatic agenda and pledged to continue promoting the country internationally, particularly by highlighting investment and tourism opportunities.
The departure of Ambassador Avé comes as Tanzania and France continue to expand bilateral cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, culture, education and development partnerships.
