Tanzania is set to showcase its infrastructure investment potential as it hosts the Africa50 General Shareholders’ Meeting (GSM) and Infra for Africa Forum, a high-level gathering expected to attract global investors, financial institutions and development partners.

The two-day meeting, scheduled for August 5 and 6, 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, will provide a platform for Tanzania to highlight progress made in infrastructure development while promoting opportunities in strategic sectors including energy, natural gas and industrialisation.

Africa50 Chief Executive Officer Alain Ebobisse said the meeting will demonstrate that infrastructure investment opportunities in Africa are viable, bankable and capable of generating sustainable returns for investors.

Mr Ebobisse made the remarks during discussions with Finance Minister Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar in Dar es Salaam as part of preparations for the event.

He said the forum’s key focus will be on accelerating Africa’s industrial growth through value addition of local resources, a move that requires reliable energy and efficient infrastructure systems.

“Tanzania has shown strong commitment towards attracting private sector investment in infrastructure. Africa50 is working with partners to support this vision through financing and implementing projects that can drive economic transformation,” Mr Ebobisse said.

He added that Africa50 has identified natural gas infrastructure as a priority area, including pipelines and processing facilities, to ensure more gas is channelled towards industrial activities in Tanzania and other African markets.

According to him, improved infrastructure will enable African countries to maximise the value of their natural resources, create industries and strengthen economic growth.

“This is an opportunity to send a message to Tanzania, Africa and the world that the continent is ready for infrastructure investment and offers strategic opportunities for investors,” he said.

Ambassador Omar said the government has completed preparations to host the Africa50 meetings, which aim to promote private sector participation in major infrastructure projects.

He said Tanzania will use the forum to advance discussions on strategic investments, including natural gas, electricity development, energy transportation systems and industrial projects.

“We expect to sign three partnership agreements in the health sector, particularly on dialysis services. We have also reviewed progress on strategic projects, including natural gas, energy transportation infrastructure and other initiatives aimed at accelerating industrial development,” Ambassador Omar said.

The minister said the meeting will bring together government leaders, financial institutions and international investors, providing a platform to strengthen partnerships that support Africa’s economic transformation.

He added that Tanzania is ready to host the event and ensure it delivers meaningful outcomes by creating new investment opportunities and strengthening cooperation between governments and the private sector.

The Africa50 Forum comes at a time when Tanzania is seeking to expand private sector participation in infrastructure development as part of efforts to boost industrialisation, energy security and long-term economic growth.
