Football, music and community activities will take centre stage tomorrow as Coastal Union hosts its Coastal Festival at CCM Mkwakwani Stadium, featuring an international friendly against Kenya’s Bandari FC.
The festival is expected to give fans an early glimpse of Coastal Union’s preparations for the new Mainland Tanzania Premier League season, with the club set to unveil its squad and new playing kits.
Water Minister Jumaa Aweso has been named the guest of honour at the event, which the club says will combine football entertainment with community engagement.
Coastal Union Information Officer Hussein Mchomvu said yesterday that preparations were in the final stages, urging fans to turn up in large numbers as the club puts the finishing touches to the festival.
“Preparations are going well and we are now in the final stages. Entry is free, so we encourage fans to turn up in large numbers to enjoy performances by various artists,” Mr Mchomvu said.
Beyond the football pitch, the club has incorporated community outreach activities into its festival programme. These include visiting orphaned children and holding prayers for the club’s players and leaders.
The highlight of the event will be the friendly match against Bandari FC, which is expected to provide Coastal Union with a competitive test ahead of the new season.
The match will also give the technical bench an opportunity to assess the squad as preparations intensify for the Premier League campaign.
The unveiling of the new squad and playing kits is expected to add to the excitement, while performances by various artists will provide additional entertainment for supporters.
With free entry, the club is hoping the festival will draw a large crowd and strengthen the connection between Coastal Union and its supporters as the team begins a new season.
