The Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has won top awards at the 2026 Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition, with its branches in Mbeya, Mtwara and Arusha emerging first in the regulatory authorities category in their respective zones.

The annual exhibitions, held from August 1 to 8, brought together government institutions, private sector players, farmers and other stakeholders to showcase agricultural technologies, financial services and initiatives aimed at supporting the sector.

In the Southern Highlands Zone, the BoT Mbeya Branch was named the best institution in the regulatory authorities category.

Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar presented the award, which was received by BoT Mbeya Branch Director Dr James Machemba.

In the Southern Zone, the BoT Mtwara Branch also took first place in the regulatory authorities category. The award was presented by Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Ayoub Mohammed Mahmoud and received by the branch director, Moto Lubogi.

The BoT Arusha Branch secured a similar victory in the Northern Zone, emerging first in the regulatory authorities category.

Arusha Regional Commissioner Amos Makalla presented the award, which was received by BoT Arusha Branch Director Dr Charles Masenya.

In the Lake Zone, the BoT Mwanza Branch received a special sponsorship award.

Mwanza Regional Commissioner Said Mohamed Mtanda presented the award, which was received on behalf of the branch by Operations Department Manager Johnas Ezekiel.

The recognition comes as the central bank continues to use public platforms such as Nanenane to provide financial education and increase public awareness of monetary, financial and economic issues.

Through its participation, BoT engages directly with farmers, businesses and members of the public, providing information on financial services and other matters within its mandate.

The awards across the three zones underline the bank's efforts to strengthen public engagement and financial literacy while bringing its services and information closer to communities.

For farmers and other visitors, Nanenane provides an important platform for understanding how financial institutions and regulatory authorities can support economic activities, particularly agriculture, which remains a key component of Tanzania's economy.
