Retired Deputy Prime Minister and Bukombe MP Doto Biteko has called on Tanzanians to protect the country’s long-standing culture of peace, unity and mutual respect, saying these values are critical to sustaining development.
Dr Biteko said national development could not be separated from social cohesion, urging citizens to continue supporting one another and resolving differences peacefully, particularly during times of hardship and uncertainty.
He made the remarks in Mbogwe District during a funeral service for the late Ilolangulu Ward councillor, Kabula Ndabacha.
“Peace is our greatest heritage and the foundation of the development we are witnessing today. We must protect it by continuing to live with love, unity and mutual respect, because the country’s development depends on the solidarity of its people,” Dr Biteko said.
He said Tanzania’s progress depends not only on economic investments and public projects but also on the ability of citizens to maintain trust, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
Dr Biteko also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, relatives, friends and members of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), describing Mr Ndabacha’s death as a loss to the family, the people of Ilolangulu Ward and the party.
He said the late councillor had contributed to serving the community and urged residents to honour his legacy by remaining committed to activities aimed at improving the welfare of their communities.
Dr Biteko further encouraged citizens to strengthen social solidarity, participate in development initiatives and safeguard peace, which he said remains one of Tanzania’s most valuable national assets.
