The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Tanganyika Law Society Young Lawyers (TLS-AYL) aimed at improving access to legal services for investors and strengthening Tanzania's investment climate.
The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a collaboration that seeks to enhance investor confidence through quality legal support while equipping young lawyers with specialised knowledge in investment and commercial law.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, TISEZA Director General Gilead Teri said the agreement is part of the authority's broader efforts to create a more conducive environment for investment by ensuring investors have access to competent legal services.
He said the partnership will also focus on building the capacity of young lawyers, enabling them to play a greater role in supporting domestic and foreign investors, while contributing to ongoing reforms aimed at improving Tanzania's business and investment environment.
"Access to reliable legal services is an important component of a competitive investment climate. Through this partnership, we are strengthening institutional collaboration to better support investors and improve the quality of services available to them," Mr Teri said.
TLS-AYL Chairperson Emmanuel Ukashu described the agreement as a significant milestone for young legal professionals, saying it will create new opportunities for them to participate in investment-related legal practice.
He said the collaboration will enable young lawyers to provide professional legal advisory services to investors while gaining practical experience in investment law, helping to raise professional standards and contribute to Tanzania's economic development.
The partnership is expected to support the government's efforts to attract more investment by strengthening the legal ecosystem that underpins business confidence and investment facilitation.
