He reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting the transport sector by creating a conducive environment for the development of competent professionals who will contribute to the country's economic growth through efficient transport and logistics systems.

The Prime Minister also urged the Ministry of Transport to initiate discussions on the establishment of a National Logistics and Transport Board, to be created through legislation and mandated to oversee policy, professional standards and strategic development within Tanzania's logistics and transport sector.

Furthermore, he commended the transport sector and its stakeholders for their continued efforts in promoting professionalism and strengthening human capacity within the industry.

Speaking at the conference, the Deputy Minister for Transport, David Kihenzile, stated that the ministry remains committed to implementing reforms aimed at strengthening the sector, recognizing transport and logistics as key drivers of Tanzania's economic development and trade competitiveness.

Meanwhile, the President of the Tanzania Logistics and Transport Association (TALTA), Mr. Alphonce Mwingira, outlined the association's vision of bringing together logistics and transport professionals under one umbrella while advancing professional excellence and policy advocacy.

He emphasized the urgent need for the establishment of a legally recognized National Logistics and Transport Board to oversee policy implementation and regulate professional practice within the sector.

On his part, the Rector of the National Institute of Transport, Dr. Prosper Mgaya, highlighted the importance of TALTA in creating a strong professional network that will enhance collaboration among industry players, academic institutions and policymakers, ultimately contributing to the growth and competitiveness of Tanzania's logistics and transport industry.

The conference marks a significant milestone as it is the first national conference organized by the Tanzania Logistics and Transport Association (TALTA) since the association was established in 2024, bringing together government leaders, industry experts, academics and other key stakeholders to discuss the future of logistics and transport in Tanzania.
