Mozambique's President Daniel Francisco Chapo is expected to arrive in Tanzania on Thursday evening for a working visit that will reinforce the two countries' longstanding diplomatic, economic and political relations.
President Chapo's visit comes as Tanzania and Mozambique seek to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, regional security and infrastructure, reflecting the growing partnership between the neighbouring nations.
While in Dar es Salaam, President Chapo will hold high-level bilateral talks with his host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House.
The discussions are expected to focus on expanding economic cooperation, promoting cross-border trade, strengthening regional integration and exploring new investment opportunities that will benefit both countries.
A key highlight of the visit will be President Chapo's role as the Guest of Honour at the opening of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), widely known as Sabasaba, on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds.
The golden jubilee edition of the fair is expected to attract thousands of exhibitors, investors, manufacturers and business leaders from Tanzania and across the world, providing a platform to showcase innovations, promote trade and strengthen commercial partnerships.
President Chapo's participation underscores the importance of Tanzania-Mozambique economic relations at a time when both countries are pursuing closer collaboration under regional integration frameworks, including the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The visit also highlights the deep historical bond between the two nations, forged during the liberation struggles of Southern Africa.
Tanzania played a pivotal role in supporting Mozambique's independence movement, laying the foundation for decades of close diplomatic relations and cooperation.
Officials say the working visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties, enhance people-to-people relations and open new avenues for cooperation in strategic sectors, including trade, energy, transport, agriculture and tourism.
The visit reaffirms the commitment of Presidents Samia and Chapo to advancing a partnership that promotes shared prosperity, regional stability and sustainable economic growth for both Tanzania and Mozambique.
