The Ministry of Health has warned the public against fraudsters posing as associates of the Minister of Health and falsely promising to secure government jobs, contracts and private meetings with the minister.
In a statement issued on July 11, the ministry said it had received reports of individuals impersonating people close to the minister to deceive job seekers, contractors and members of the public.
The ministry said the suspects have been contacting people through unsolicited phone calls and direct approaches, claiming they have the authority to arrange employment opportunities and government tenders in exchange for money or other favours.
It emphasised that neither the Minister of Health nor the ministry has authorised any individual or group to recruit staff, award contracts or facilitate access to government opportunities on their behalf.
"The Minister of Health has neither authorised, appointed nor delegated any person or group to solicit, facilitate or provide access to government employment opportunities or contracts on behalf of the ministry," he said.
The warning comes as government institutions continue to battle a rise in impersonation scams targeting job seekers and businesses through fake recruitment offers and fraudulent procurement deals.
The ministry urged anyone who has been approached by the fraudsters or has lost money through the scheme to report the matter immediately to law enforcement agencies to enable investigations and legal action against those responsible.
It also reminded the public that all ministry services are provided only through established official channels and authorised officers, including the Permanent Secretary and other designated officials.
The ministry stressed that the Office of the Minister remains open to the public through formal procedures and that no payments are required to access ministry services or seek information.
