DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — The Guardians of the Peak (GOP) documentary project used Tanzania Film Board Day at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair to promote environmental conservation, sustainable tourism and climate awareness through film.

The GOP team and its ambassadors engaged visitors throughout the event, sharing the vision behind the documentary series and highlighting the role of storytelling in advancing environmental protection and public awareness.

Wearing the project's distinctive branding, team members interacted with exhibition visitors from across the country, sparking discussions on the conservation of Mount Kilimanjaro, climate action, clean energy and the growing contribution of Tanzania's creative industries to national development.

A key attraction during the event was the screening of Guardians of the Peak – Season I, which follows the journey to Africa's highest mountain while exploring the importance of protecting Tanzania's natural heritage.

The documentary showcases Mount Kilimanjaro's landscapes, the experiences of climbers and the need for collective action to safeguard the environment through education, awareness and community participation.

Project organisers said the documentary aims to demonstrate how film can be used as a tool to educate audiences while promoting conservation and responsible tourism.

The Tanzania Film Board has been a key supporter of the initiative, providing a platform for the documentary during Film Board Day and helping increase its visibility within the country's film industry.

Organisers said the partnership has enabled the project to reach filmmakers, students, government institutions, industry stakeholders and members of the public, creating broader engagement around environmental issues and sustainable development.

The collaboration also reflects efforts to promote Tanzanian productions that combine entertainment with educational and social impact objectives.

Building on the momentum of the first season, producers said Guardians of the Peak – Season II will be developed under the theme "Embrace Clean Energy. Protect Tomorrow."

The upcoming production will continue to focus on environmental conservation, responsible tourism and clean energy while showcasing Tanzania's landscapes, culture and biodiversity to domestic and international audiences.

Project leaders said future efforts will also seek to inspire young filmmakers, strengthen partnerships between the tourism and conservation sectors and position Tanzania as a destination where storytelling can drive positive environmental and social change.

They expressed appreciation to the Tanzania Film Board for its continued support, describing the project as a growing movement that celebrates Tanzania's natural heritage, empowers communities and promotes the country's creative and tourism industries on the global stage..
