Energy leaders meet at Sabasaba forum to chart sector's future

Senior government officials, policymakers, investors and energy industry stakeholders convened in Dar es Salaam on Friday for the Energy Day Forum, where discussions are expected to focus on expanding investment, improving energy access and accelerating Tanzania's transition to cleaner energy.

Held at the Mwandoro Hall within the Julius Nyerere International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) grounds, the forum has attracted development partners, technical experts and private sector players to deliberate on the sector's role in supporting economic growth and industrialisation.

The meeting comes as Tanzania continues to scale up investment in electricity generation, transmission and clean cooking initiatives to meet rising energy demand and improve access to reliable and affordable power.

Participants are expected to examine policy reforms, financing opportunities, technological innovation and public-private partnerships that can help unlock further investment while strengthening energy security.

Deliberations will also centre on expanding the adoption of clean cooking energy and advancing the government's target of increasing installed electricity generation capacity to 8,000 megawatts by 2030.

The forum, taking place alongside the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, provides a platform for government and industry leaders to assess progress, identify emerging opportunities and strengthen collaboration as Tanzania pursues its long-term energy and economic development objectives.
