Duce Parasport and L.S.L made emphatic statements on the opening day of the 2026 Azam Amputee Football Tournament, registering dominant victories as Tanzania's top-flight league for amputee football kicked off at the KMC Complex in Mwenge.

Duce Parasport cruised to a commanding 6-0 victory over Songwe, while L.S.L produced the biggest win of the day with a resounding 10-0 triumph against Lango la SADC. In another opening fixture, invited side Zanzibar Combine edged Arusha Warriors 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter.

The opening round reflected the growing standard and competitiveness of amputee football in Tanzania, with teams displaying tactical discipline, determination and attacking flair that promise an exciting season ahead.

Speaking to The Respondent Online, Tanzania Amputee Football Federation (TAFF) Technical Director Shaban Msangi said the tournament has brought together 10 clubs from Mainland Tanzania and one invited team from Zanzibar, creating a platform to further develop the sport and showcase the talent of players with disabilities.

"The tournament has started on a high note. The level of competition is encouraging, and the quality of football has been impressive. We invite football fans to come to the KMC Complex and support our players. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome," Msangi said.

He expressed confidence that the tournament would continue to produce entertaining matches while helping to raise the profile of amputee football across the country.

Msangi also called on residents of Dar es Salaam and neighbouring areas to attend the matches in large numbers, noting that strong public support would inspire players and contribute to the continued growth of inclusive sports in Tanzania.

The Azam Amputee Football Tournament is expected to continue over the coming days, with clubs battling for crucial early points in what promises to be one of the most competitive seasons in the league's history.
