Tanzania, Egypt boost investment cooperation in key economic sectors

Tanzania has strengthened its investment and trade relations with Egypt following a high-level Tanzania–Egypt Tourism, Trade and Investment Forum held in Cairo, aimed at unlocking new economic opportunities and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

The forum, held from 8–9 June 2026 under the theme “From the Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean: Bridging Markets, Tourism, Trade and Investment,” brought together senior government officials, investors, and business leaders from Tanzania and the Arab Republic of Egypt Egypt.

The meeting provided a strategic platform for enhancing bilateral economic cooperation and promoting Tanzania’s investment potential across priority sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and pharmaceuticals.

The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority represented Tanzania at the forum, where it highlighted the country’s investment opportunities, competitive business environment, and investor facilitation services.

Through business-to-government (B2G) meetings and networking sessions, TISEZA engaged directly with potential investors from Egypt and the wider region, presenting key areas for investment and partnership.

One of the major outcomes of the discussions was strong investor interest in Tanzania’s pharmaceutical sector, driven by Egypt’s established expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing. 

Investors also showed interest in plastic manufacturing, paper products, agriculture, and tourism, signaling growing opportunities for industrial collaboration and value addition in Tanzania.

The forum further underscored Tanzania’s ongoing efforts to improve the investment climate through reforms aimed at simplifying procedures, enhancing efficiency, and strengthening support services for investors.

Officials noted that the engagement helped raise Tanzania’s visibility in North Africa and opened new channels for strategic partnerships that could lead to future investment projects.

They emphasized that continued follow-up with interested investors will be essential in converting the discussions into concrete investments that contribute to industrial growth, job creation, and economic development.

Overall, the forum marked an important step in deepening Tanzania–Egypt economic relations and reinforcing Tanzania’s position as a competitive and attractive destination for trade and investment in Africa.
